On Monday, Corry had their last unified bocce match against Seneca.
Both teams had enough players to run two matches at once. Team one’s roster consisted of Sydney Woods, Margo Busche, this reporter, Kyleigh Artice, Dustin Rose, Cherokee Swanson, McKenzie Amburgy, and Madison Brown. Team two’s roster was Halle Beach, Ryan Mather, Mahra Goodwill, Aubrey Chase, Dominic Sanchez, Garrett Light, McKenna Music, and Mathew McDonald. For the second round, Anya Styborksi came in and played for Sydney Woods on team one.
Match one started off well for Corry as both teams had the lead. In the end Senenca caught up to team one and the score for team one’s game was 6-5, with Senenca winning. For team two’s match Corry had a big lead, with the ending score being 8-2. There was a quick five-minute intermission after a round of both matches where the teams recollected themselves and prepared for round two. At the start of the second round for both matches Corry was ahead yet again. Both teams kept a strong lead and both of Corry’s teams ended up winning their second round both scores being 8-4. Team two finished their match with an overall win, whereas team one had to go into the golden frame to break the tie. Players Anya Styborski, Madison Brown, this reporter and Kyleigh Artice all played in the golden frame to win the match. Senenca came out strong and ended up winning the golden frame and team one’s match 1-0.
Monday’s game was Unified Bocce’s last game, unless they make the playoffs. They ended their regular season with a record of 2-3.
Coach Chud on how he thinks the season went: “I thought overall it went really well. The relationship between the athletes and the helpers was great, which is what we are looking for in a unified program. Getting our athletes out into an athletic setting is good because they don’t get to do that often.”
