After a rough start to the season, the Chicago Cubs are sitting at 25-12 and riding an eight game win streak. Currently up 3-0 in a four game series with the Reds, highlighted by three straight walk offs from Michael Conforto hitting a 1 run home run in the bottom of the 9th to give the Cubs the victory in game one. In games 2 and 3 of the series, Michael Busch walked it off both times with the first one being a single up the center gap, and the second one being a walk with bases loaded.
The Cubs started off the season rough but picked it up near the middle-end of April. Their hot start has been led by second baseman Nico Hoerner who is an early MVP candidate to start the year. Young guys have been stepping up like Moises Ballesteros who has gained the nickname “Mo Baller,” and Matt Shaw. The stars on the team such as Pete Crow Armstrong, Michael Busch, Dansby Swanson and Alex Bregman started the season off rough but have picked it up during this win streak. The highlight of this team so far has been how deep they are and how many players can step up when needed like, Michael Conforto, Scott Kingery, Carson Kellt, Miguel Amaya, Ian Happ, and more. Chicago really got rolling when Seiya Suzuki came back from his injury in the world Baseball classic.
Overall, the Cubs are the hottest team in baseball and have a lot more to improve on, which is scary for the league because they are playing like the best team in baseball without even hitting their peak yet. They have everything a championship team needs with a good infield and outfield, quality backups to fill in their place when needed, a solid pitching rotation, great hitters who can get hot at any moment, and most importantly for them, guys who step up when needed most, and we have seen that to start this season.
