Every year, Corry Area School hosts prom the Friday before Mother’s Day. It is one of the most anticipated events of the year.
Traditionally, we don’t have school that Friday at all so students can prepare for the night they have ahead of them.
For many years now, Corry has held the prom at the Peek n Peak resort. The venue was decorated nicely to incorporate our theme, “Meet Me at Midnight.” Unlike many other schools, we have a parade that takes place as students arrive to the dance. Students look forward to getting in a nice, fancy car and getting out to walk the red carpet to show off their beautiful looks. Along with the students enjoying this part of the night, parents and other people from the town get to go watch along the sidelines.
For this year’s prom, dinner was served at a taco bar. Students were able to choose from different toppings and build their own tacos, which many people enjoyed. Immediately after eating, the dance became where students could hit the dance floor. Although the night was fun overall, many students agreed the DJ was not the best.
Overall, prom was very fun and exciting. Everyone was able to enjoy themselves, while having the ability to express themselves in fun dresses and cool cars. This event allowed classmates to spend time together, celebrate, and enjoy one of the final major events of the school year.
