Over the week of May 18 to May 22, the school district is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week (May 11th to 17th) to bring awareness and love to those struggling with their mental health, organized by Safeline. There will be a ton of fun events to do this week, and a ton of fun things to wear!
This week will consist of:
- Monday– a guest speaker, assembly, wear pj’s
- Tuesday– therapy dogs, wear camo
- Wednesday– positive messages, wear pastel or sweats
- Thursday– thankful messages, wear orange and black
- Friday– lunch room giveaways, wear green
The guest speaker on Monday is named Kristen from Minding Your Mind. She is a very talented speaker, discussing mental health, trauma, grief, and substances. Her story, and the way she speaks, should resonate very well with almost every student, and the school is absolutely looking forward to hosting her.
Mental health, to most people, is extremely important, which means that it is extremely important to show support for those struggling. This can start with participation during the week, showing it means something. If you yourself are struggling with mental health, that is okay. That is the reason Safeline is sponsoring this week: to show it is okay.
Safeline’s only encouragement to end this article is to talk to somebody. Don’t be afraid of what people think; in fact, people won’t care anyway. You matter. You matter much more than what other people think of you, as well. If you are struggling, find the help you deserve.
