Erie’s annual Save an Eye Game has announced which players from Corry will be on the field this year for the event, which will take place on June 26 and will be held at Harborcreek High School.
The Save an Eye Game has become one of the most meaningful and highly anticipated high school traditions in Erie County, bringing together students, athletes, and community members for a cause that goes far beyond football.
What really makes the Save an Eye Game special is how it brings everyone together. The players representing Corry this year (Owen Nickerson, Alex Schmidt, Marcus Meredith, Keaton Frisina, Blake Cook, Landon Hasbrouck, Lucas Baker, and Colton Anderson) aren’t just out there playing football, they’re playing for a bigger reason. It means a lot to them to be part of something like this.
The game held each year by the Lions Club out of Erie focuses on raising awareness about eye safety while supporting individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Although the rivalry on the field is strong, the true purpose of the night is to make a difference in the community.
Throughout the game, announcements and activities show the importance of protecting eyesight, especially in contact sports like football. Fundraising, ticket sales, donations, and special events all support programs that provide help to people with eye care needs. This combination of competition and cause gives the game a deeper meaning for everyone involved.
People in the community come out not just for the game, but to support the cause too. Over the years, it’s become more than just another football game, it’s something everyone looks forward to because it actually makes a difference.
