Lionel Messi was born is Rosario, Argentina, on June 24, 1987. Messi was a small child, and is still short as an adult, measuring in at about 5 feet 7 inches.

He excelled at soccer from a young age and would join the FC Barcelona team at the age of 17. He would score his first goal of his professional career in that game. Over the course of his career, Messi would go on to win Seven Ballon d’Or awards, one Fifa World Player, one Fifa Best Player, and six European Golden Shoes. His individual accomplishments don’t end there, but are too long to list. Messi’s most recent accomplishment was leading his World Cup team, Argentina, to a Word Cup championship. This was his last chance to cement himself as one of, if not the G.O.A.T. Messi Must.

Messi had one last chance to secure the ultimate accomplishment, the crown jewel of his decorated career. He had reached the World Cup Final one last time.

Messi got the party started with a goal in the 23-minute mark giving Argentina a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Di Maria put in another impressive goal to double the lead. Argentina dominated the French for the entirety of the match until Kylian Mbappe converted on a penalty kick in the 80-minute mark, and then miraculously put in another goal in the 81-minute mark to tie the game. The two juggernauts went back and forth for quite some time until Lionel Messi knocked in his second goal of the day to give his country the late lead.

Hope was dwindling for France, but Kylian Mbappe came through once more, tying the game on a penalty kick in the 118- minute mark. This goal would solidify the hat trick for Mbappe, truly an incredible individual performance. Soon after, the game clock struck 120 minutes and the match was ended, as the final result would have to be decided by penalty kicks. This is only the third time in history where the World Cup Final would be decided by penalties.

Argentina was able to defeat France in penalties 4-2, thus giving them the World Cup victory. Messi had finally won himself and his country a World Cup. This victory was the single thing he needed to add to his legendary career and solidify himself as the G.O.A.T..
