Strider keeps on rolling amid breakout season

Spencer Strider becomes the first Pitcher to 100 Strikeouts in 2023

Spencer Strider has been one of Major League Baseball’s top pitchers this season. Many people felt that “Quadzilla” was poised for a great season in 2023 after he had a stellar rookie year in 2022. Strider pitched in 31 games last season, starting 20. Over those 31 games, Strider pitched to a 2.67 ERA, and .995 WHIP in 131.2 innings pitched. Obviously this was an amazing show of work for Strider’s rookie season, and it garnered a lot of excitement for his 2023 season.

So far in Strider’s 2023 season, Strider was pitched in and started 11 games. In those 11 games, he has a 2.97 ERA, and a .990 WHIP in 63 innings pitched. Strider is also the first pitcher in 2023 to hit the 100 strikeout mark. Through this elite pitching, Strider already has 1.6 Wins above replacement, and is first in the current CY Young polls.
