The TANF program recently made a meaningful investment in the future of local students by helping provide essential tools and equipment for participants in the Property Building Maintenance Program at Corry High School. This support ensures that students can fully engage in hands on learning without being held back by financial limitations.

The Corry students benefiting from this initiative include Cashlyn Reed, Colton Anderson, Isaac Hicks, Seth Alsdorf, and Nick Kunick. According to Mercedes Donavan, TANF Youth Career Advisor, by covering the cost of required tools, TANF has removed a significant barrier that might have otherwise prevented these students from participating to their fullest potential.

The Property Building Maintenance Program focuses on developing practical, real-world skills that are directly applicable to careers in the skilled trades. With the proper equipment in hand, students are better prepared to gain experience, build confidence, and take full advantage of the training offered.

This effort highlights the importance of community support in education, especially for programs that prepare students for in-demand careers. By investing in these young individuals today, TANF is helping lay the groundwork for a stronger, more skilled workforce in the future.
