The Corry Beavers saw their season come to an end Tuesday night as the Eisenhower Knights defeated them 70-49 in the District 10 Class 3A boys basketball championship. The game was played at Eisenhower High School in front of a lively crowd of fans and student supporters.
Corry jumped out to an early start, showing quick offense and moving the ball well. In the first quarter, the Beavers pushed the pace and built a lead behind aggressive scoring and fast breaks. However, as the game went on, Eisenhower chipped away at that lead and took control with timely scoring and strong transition play.
By the second quarter, the Knights had closed the gap and gradually pulled ahead. Eisenhower used a combination of outside shooting and quick outlets after rebounds to keep Corry from getting back on track. The Knights’ full-court pressure also led to several fast break opportunities that Corry struggled to stop.
Despite the loss, several Beavers played with intensity throughout the night. Corry’s offense showed promise early, and the team’s effort was evident from tip-off to the final buzzer. Still, Eisenhower balanced scoring and pressure defense made the difference in the second half.
As a player on the Beavers, this reporter felt like the team started strong with fast offense and good ball movement, which helped them get an early lead, but as the game continued they lost that edge because Eisenhower was getting easy points in transition. The defense struggled to contain their fast break chances, and that shift helped them build momentum and control the game.
