The 24-year-old Cowboys defensive end, Marshawn Kneeland, was found dead at 1:31 a.m. CST in Frisco, Texas in a porta-potty from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On November 6, the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers was going after Kneeland because of texts that were sent. Kneeland didn’t stop for them however. Around 10:39 p.m. CST in Frisco, TX, DPS located Kneeland’s vehicle after invading DPS troopers. DPS found Kneeland’s vehicle crashed on the southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. Kneeland fled the scene on foot and officers, K-9 units, and drone units started searching for him. Three hours later, they found Kneeland in a porta-potty with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to NBC News, Kneeland sent texts to his friends saying goodbye and that he couldn’t bear to do any time behind bars. The Cowboys head of security, Cable Johnson, asked for officers to do a welfare check on Kneeland. Johnson told the dispatchers that Kneeland sent out concerning texts and that the group text seemed to be saying goodbye to his friends and that he didn’t want to go to prison or jail.

According to Yahoo! News, Kneeland’s cousin, Jasmine Kneeland, thinks the police killed Kneeland. Kneeland’s uncle then shut down any rumors that drugs and/or alcohol were consumed by Kneeland. Kneeland also never smoked nor had any alcohol.
