'Cup O' Joe' receives new coffee maker

The “Cup O’ Joe” student run coffee program in the school has received a grant from the Anthony Family Charitable Trust, and they have used that grant to buy a brand new hot beverage dispenser for the program.

They applied for the grant at the end of last year, and decided this year that they will use the money to buy a new machine. This new machine provides plenty of new opportunities and responsibilities for the students, and better coffee for the teachers. Wilbur Allen said “It’s good! I like doing it.. I wanna work at McDonalds… it can help.”

Talking to Mrs. Wojcicehowski, she is  ecstatic about it. I asked her a couple questions, starting with who the grant came from. She answered by saying it’s from Mr. Mike Anthony, a former teacher who is providing for the district in memory of his mother and aunt. She said overall that this new grant helps a whole lot.

The last machine that they had could make lattes, but it broke all the time and was so high maintenance and annoying to deal with. This new machine is the type that is found at gas stations, the ones that can make bulk orders.

A student in the class, Katelyn Hovis, said that she really loves it, and Margo Boucher said that it’s really nice.  It gives the kids more jobs in clean up and operation, and it gets the kids more involved in the program. Not only that, but it helps the kids learn responsibility for their future.

Lucas Burch said, “It’s great… I’ll see it at other jobs.” It also provides a lot more options of what they can make, such as cappuccinos and lattes, and a lot of what other teachers will like.

Hunter Walton said, “I like it… I’m excited for a lot more customers!”

A big thanks goes to the group that gave the grant, the Anthony Family Charitable Trust. What you do is amazing and admirable, and you’re helping a lot of people.
