On Tuesday, the Oil City Oilers traveled to Corry to take on the Beavers in their third meet of the year. The track meet started at 4 p.m., with the sun shining and it being close to a warm 70 degrees out. Some athletes performed very well and some of them got their invite to the Hermitage Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
The meet started off with the 4×800 meter relay, with the Oilers coming out on top. The Beavers struggled in the sprinting events with the Oilers sweeping the Beavers in the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay.
The last event of the meet was the 4×400 meter relay, the Oilers and Beavers were neck and neck the entire race until sophomore Blake Cook took the final hand off and never looked back. He won the race by a clear margin, but sadly it wasn’t enough to win the meet.
The boys and girls next meet is away at Franklin High School on Tuesday, April 23.
