The Masters Tournament 2025: One for the history books

Over the days of April 10-13, one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world took place. The Masters is held every year at the Augusta National Golf Course. The competitors strive for the opportunity to wear the one and only green jacket. The tournament is watched by millions of viewers worldwide and features golfers from all across the globe. The Tournament consists of 4 rounds, a round every day, after all four rounds are finished the person who has the lowest score takes home the green jacket and the title of Masters Champion.

It is truly “ A tradition like no other,” reporter Jim Nance said. As stated early, the Masters is one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time. This is largely in part to the long list of traditions that take place at the Masters every year. For example, one of the most known is that there are no phones allowed at the masters, only disposable cameras. Another tradition is the food: the type of food they serve and the prices of that food have not changed since the Masters started in 1934.

This year’s tournament featured many different storylines, the favorite being “The Grand Slam.” In this year’s tournament, golfer Rory McIlory had the opportunity to do what only five other golfers have done: win all four of the majors in professional golf. Another favorite to win was Bryson DeChambeau, an internet sensation that changed the standard of professional golfers.

The first round took place on April 10, and the round finished with Justin Rose in the lead (-7), shooting a 65 that day. Bryson (-3) ended in 5th and Rory (E) ended in 27th at the end of day one.

At the end of day two Justin Rose still held the lead at (-8), however this time second and third were held by Bryson (-7) and Rory (-6).

The third out of the fourth day ended with Rory (-12) in first and Bryson (-10) just behind him in second, the two would be paired together on the fourth and final day.

The last day finished in an iconic way: Rory McIlory (-11) completed the grand slam by beating Justin Rose (-11) on a playoff on hole 18. After sinking the final putt, Rory broke down crying on the green, realizing the feat he had just overcome. The 2025 Masters will go down in history as one of the most iconic in golf.
