“Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck is about two migrant workers, George and Lennie, traveling together during the Great Depression. They move from job to job and dream of owning their own farm one day. George is smart and protective, while Lennie is strong but mentally challenged, which often causes problems for both of them.
The book shows how hard life was during that time. Many characters feel lonely and hopeless, and most of them have dreams that never come true, however, this is not true for George and Lennie because they have each other. Steinbeck uses simple language but still makes the story emotional and meaningful through high emotion occurrences between characters.
Overall, the novel is short but powerful. The friendship between George and Lennie is the most important part of the story, and the ending leaves a strong impact. It’s a sad story, but it teaches important lessons about loyalty, responsibility, and the reality of chasing dreams as well as demonstrating how life was during the Great Depression.
