Darci Hatley is the coach for the varsity girls wrestling team in Corry Area High School. She has been coaching wrestling for about 16 years and she has been coaching the varsity girls team for one year and will be starting her second this season.
She is very excited for the upcoming season because of the full roster of girls who signed up and she is also glad to see some of last year’s girls coming back to the sport. She hopes for all those girls to have some sort of success no matter what level they are at.
As we may know preseason has started but she still uses her typical training lesson on the girls, and that includes a good warm up, stretch, skill development, hard drilling, situations, and everyone’s favorite: conditioning. She likes to say her type of coaching style is tough love.
Lastly to the non-wrestlers, she wants to say if you want to learn how to fight in hard situations in life, then do wrestling.
