Showing cows is one of my favorite hobbies to do. I show a 2-year-old heifer and a 1-year-old heifer as well. I enjoy taking them to fair and doing cow patty bingo with my 2-year-old heifer named Moose. I have been working with Moose since she was a week old. On the other hand, my 1-year-old heifer is named Molly. I have been working with her for about two years now. I have been showing for about four years now and I normally take a couple newer calves to the fair.
10. Washing their body is probably one of the most important but boring things to do to prepare for show days. When washing their bodies you have to make sure you get all the soap off so that way they don’t have dandruff when you take them into the show ring.
9. Cleaning their hooves can also be quite annoying only because they don’t really like their hooves messed with.
8. Cleaning halters can be very time consuming especially when you have to be careful what you use to clean that halter. There is specific oil or whatever other people may use and it can damage the leather if you don’t use the right cleaning solution.
7. Clipping ears can be a struggle because they are always wanting to move their head all over when clipping their ears. It can be very time consuming due to them moving, but the final results of the ears are so much better than what they were.
6. When getting ready to show the one thing I do to make my cows hooves shinny before entering the show ring is I baby oil the hooves. It gives them a really nice shiny look and makes their hooves very noticeable.
5. Brushing cows makes them look more presentable in the ring but also just nicer in general. I also brush my cows after I wash them to make sure they have all the excess water off of them.
4. Cleaning their ears are almost as difficult as clipping them they don’t really like their ears messed with for many reasons.
3. Hair spraying their tails is probably the easiest step for getting them ready to go into the show ring.
2. Fluffing a tail is probably one of my favorite parts of getting them ready for show day because using the mane and tail comb makes it so much easier to fluff their tail the proper way.
1. Showing cows is one of my favorite things to do and working with them all summer long and finally get to show the results in the ring.
