Impact, a group set up to get the word of God spread to the people in our school during lunches run by youth leader Brock Henderson, was getting complaints from people and was shut down. During its time, the group left a massive influence on the students that it meant a lot to.

The school shutting down Impact did not stop them from preaching. Students brought their Bibles to school, talked to people about God, shared the gospel to as many people as they could, passed out Bibles, made posters, and held their own Impact at lunch.

Students made it known that shutting Impact down was affecting them but it was not going to stop them from sharing the gospel and getting as many people as they can to know God and feel his love. They had to stay strong in their faith and do things that were hard like talking to the principal even if that was scary at the time.

During this time I talked to many people who attended Impact and asked how they felt about Impact being shut down.

When I talked to Makenzie Fralick she said, “I felt mad but I was super encouraged to keep preaching because it was a win that something we were doing got recognized.”

When I talked to Allison Swanson she said, “I feel that it is a discrimination against Christians because nobody was being forced to go to Impact; it was purely a choice, so they are going to take it away for the people who actually want to go and its disgusting.”

When I talked to Avarie Varner she said, “When I heard Impact was shut down I was very disappointed, I felt that my freedom was taken away. However, I found this as an opportunity to stand up for what I believe in and step out in my faith.

Even though they were angry that something they enjoyed and meant a lot to them was being taken away, it made many of them stronger in their faith and it led many people to God who have never before really wanted to know God. It was a huge turn and rise in our school that many people don’t realize. They stood very strong in their faith no matter what and it was very important for them to not give up.
