My dad and I recently went to an NFL game in Orchard Park, New York. We went to watch the Bills play the Patriots, and here is what happened.
We were ready to leave our house in Erie to drive about two to three hours to get to Highmark Stadium. We had to turn around about an hour in. My dad forgot his ID. So finally when we got home we got his ID then we hit the road again, but almost admittedly we ran into a huge amount of traffic and the way it was looking we thought we were not going to make it for the game. Even though we are leaving almost five hours before the game even started. So instead of following the traffic we went about an hour out of the way just to avoid the traffic.
When we finally made it we went to the hotel room. That was the whole reason we had to go back to get his ID, but when we got there we checked in and put all of our stuff in there. I showered really quickly, then I walked around the hotel while I waited for my dad to take his shower, and I found this cool indoor hot tub. Right then and there I knew what I was doing after the game, but while I was day dreaming about later my dad called me and told me to come back to the room so we could get ready and go to the stadium.
When we got to the stadium the security was crazy. It looked like they were trying to lock the place down, but little did I know that’s actually not that much security at all. We finally got through the metal directors and then we had to scan our tickets, and when I tell you my heart sank, I mean my heart sank. The ticket failed to scan twice, but it was just reading it wrong. It worked the third time and the other one worked instantly. We got into the stadium and we wanted to get food and snacks so we didn’t have to miss the game at all, so we went to the concession stand and the food was relatively cheap for an event like this. So only about six items later and $20 down the drain, we were ready to go to our seats to watch them warm up and watch this game.
If I’m being completely honest with you, I was there for the Patriots. I really want to see him finally become a real good starter. It was a great game towards the end. In the beginning though it was honestly not that good of a game. It was kind of disappointing until the second half. Josh and Drake started going back and forth with scoring and good drives until the Patriots held the Bills and Drake took advantage and made the game winning drive to win it all for the Patriots. It was honestly a good game and I would highly suggest watching the highlights of it.
When we got back to the hotel we mainly just relaxed and chilled for a while because there wasn’t much else to do. Kidding– I went in the hot tub for about an hour, then I went back to watch the TV. We also brought our fire stick so I watched a lot of movies. I didn’t really sleep to be totally honest, but finally when I did fall asleep I slept well and that’s what matters. When we woke up we went and got the free breakfast, then we packed up and explored New York a little bit. Then we decided it was time to go home so my dad could get back to work and I could get back to school.
As always there was traffic so that two-to-three hour drive from before was almost four hours. When we got home we decided to look through everything and all the pictures and items we got from it. I made a small little book with the memories from the game, and the whole trip in general. Then I put it in my room and kept it in the one place I keep every other thing I have, and that was my first NFL game: the Bills and the Patriots.
This was an amazing trip and I am very grateful I got to experience it. I would suggest for other people to go watch an NFL game in real life. It is a very different experience and I loved it.
