Mrs. Hajec is the new guidance counselor secretary at the Corry Middle-High School. The guidance office secretary role consists of working year-round and dealing with student enrollment, scholarships, and report cards. This is a lot to take on, but Hajec believes that she will enjoy the challenges to come.
Hajec, who graduated from Corry in the class of 1984, has been working at the school for about 30 years. Before she moved in as guidance counselor secretary, she started as an aide in 1995, doing her beginning years as a life skills aide for the school. She then moved up to running ISS (In-School Suspension), where she worked for the last 10 years.
When asked, Mrs. Hajec commented, “The change has been fast-paced, but I won’t mind the change up.” She took over the position in January 2025, where she is filling in for the previous guidance office secretary Mrs. Cirigliano, who is currently on a leave of absence. Hajec will be permanent after Cirigliano’s retirement on June 30.
When asked what she will miss about working in ISS, she responded saying, “I will miss the peace and quiet.”
When asked what her favorite thing is while working here she said, “My favorite thing is definitely the coworkers, and the student also.”
Hajec she said she looks forward to the challenges to come. With this new change up, she believes that she will spend the rest of her career in this new position.
Some of her highlights/favorite moments of being in the school have been going through two different renovations, watching staff come and go, and watching the different generations of past students go through.
Hajec believes she will make more memories being the new guidance counselor secretary. She is looking forward to these new memories and making connections with the Corry student body.
