Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died on October 16 due to a three story fall from his Buenos Aires hotel balcony in Argentina. The 31-year-old English singer was staying in Argentina since September, to support his bandmate – Niall Horan – at a concert – part of The Show Live On Tour – forming part of Horan’s tour.
Payne leaves behind his 7-year-old son, Bear Payne. The investigation behind his death is still ongoing, but so far the police have obtained several medicines and alcohol within Payne’s room. The manager within the Casa Azul Palermo Hotel – the location of Payne’s death – was the one who filed the police report claiming there was “an aggressive man who was possibly on drugs or alcohol.” The man has yet to be identified as Payne, but the report seems very well to be Payne, as the manager reports “broken items and a balcony that the man could possibly fall from.” Broken items were found in the hotel room along with several other objects/items yet been released.
Liam James Payne was born in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom on August 29, 1993. Liam found an interest in music at the age of 3, though he planned on becoming an Olympic runner at the time. Liam pursued his music venture, though, and at age 14 he ended up on “The X Factor” (An American Singing Competition Show), though Simon Cowell said “No” to Liam. He never gave up though and went back onto the show two years later with his friends. Together they were formed as a band by judge Simon Cowell. The members included himself, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. Styles was the one who came up with One Direction, often referred to as 1D. In 2015, Zayn left the group, with the entire group splitting up in 2016. Each individual has gone on their own, making their own singles, Styles is said to be “among the most successful solo artists who have emerged from a band.”
Liam Payne released three albums in the time of his solo career, including: “Midnight Hour” (2020, EP), “LP1” (2019), and “First Time” (2018, EP). He also wrote his own songs, with “Sunshine” (Found in “Ron’s Gone Wrong” movie), “Familiar,” “Polaroid,” “Strip that Down,” and his most recent 2024 song, “Teardrops.” Payne has 7.6 million listeners and 28.4 million followers (As of Instagram). Payne’s album, “Do No Wrong” is being delayed indefinitely per sources.
Payne’s death comes as a great surprise to all and he will be missed worldwide. The funeral is set for November and he will be surrounded by family and friends.
