The Iron Giant,’ which is based on the 1968 book, was released in 1999. Directed by Brad Bird, the story takes place in the city of Rockwell, Maine, in the year 1957 and is about Hogarth Hughes (Eli Marinethal), a kid who goes into the woods trying to find what happened to his TV antenna. Here he meets the Iron Giant (Vin Diesel), a robot who is eating all of the metal it can find, including Hogarth’s antenna. Hogarth and the giant quickly become friends and are trying to keep it from being found by other people.
Every actor and actress did amazing work in this movie. The way the characters interact with each other feels natural; the voice acting itself sounds smooth and fluent, really making it seem as if it is happening.
Another thing that was good about it was the animation, which is really impressive considering it was made 25 years ago. It has a classic feel while also feeling more modern. Personally, I don’t have any major complaints with this movie that would drag down my rating.
With a PG rating, this movie wasn’t designed for a specific age group, but can definitely be enjoyed by all ages and even fans of all genres, using a mix of action, romance, family and friendship, and a good amount of emotion. This movie is a timeless classic executed perfectly.
