Summer trip to Pittsburgh

Concerts, shopping, and mother-daughter bonding time
Summer+trip+to+Pittsburgh

On Christmas last year I was gifted with concert tickets to see the pop sensation ‘P!nk’ live in Pittsburgh. We went out to eat, shopped downtown, while trying to navigate our way through the busy streets. I have to say that this summer was one of the best ones by far and I am excited to share and write about my exciting trip!

August 4: My mom and I made it to Pittsburgh. After the grueling drive, I was excited to get out to a new change of scenery. We ended up staying at the Hilton Hotel, which was one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever been to. The first day of the trip was pretty lowkey and my mom and I just had dinner, unpacked, and settled down. We wanted to make sure we had enough energy for the rest of the trip.

The next day my mom and I got up super early so we could potentially beat the heavy traffic. We first stopped at T.J. Maxx, which was so much bigger than the ones at home. Then we went to the plaza near our hotel and spent all of our money on stupid things that we probably didn’t even need such as makeup, clothes, and jewelry. On our way back to the hotel I was stopped by a random man who gave me a red rose. Of course it wouldn’t be Pittsburgh if he didn’t ask for something in return. I looked through my wallet and all I had were some measly subway coupons, which he denied. So my mom handed him ten bucks and ushered me into the hotel. After that both of us decided to get ready for the concert.

The venue wasn’t far from the hotel, so we caught a trolley along with other people who were attending the show as well. The wait for the concert was definitely worth it when P!nk made her way on stage and started performing her most popular songs. Towards the end of the concert she harnessed up and began flying around the crowd in the air, which I can confidently say was one of the most interesting things I’ve seen. I loved it though.

While walking back home from the concert, the bridge toward our hotel was blocked off due to the concert and my mom, being stubborn, refused to get an Uber. It was dark and getting late, which irritated me. We weren’t the only ones who were struggling to get back, which made it so much worse. Finally, after a small fight my mom called an Uber but it took us forever to find it. So long story short it took about an hour and a half to get to the hotel when it should’ve taken ten minutes.

Overall, I had a really good time in Pittsburgh and the experience was amazing. Due to our busy schedule my mom and I don’t really spend a lot of time together, so this was definitely much needed. I cannot wait to go to another concert/mother-daughter bonding trip!
