Born on January 17, Mr. Willis grew up in the small town of Corry, Pennsylvania, where he learned the value of hard work, patience, and family. He began his high school journey at Corry Area High School before continuing his education at Clymer, where he completed grades 10 through 12. Today, he is still furthering his education by attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), showing that learning never truly stops.
Mr. Willis comes from a big family. He has four younger sisters. Now, he has a family of his own with four children—one girl and three boys—who keep him busy and motivated every day. Much of his free time is spent doing what he loves most: being with his family.
When he’s not teaching, Mr. Willis enjoys hobbies that connect him to the outdoors, especially archery hunting. These activities reflect his patience and focus for skill—qualities that also show up in his teaching.
As a machining teacher, Mr. Willis isn’t just focused on tools and techniques. His main goal is to pass on knowledge to others and help students build confidence in their abilities. His favorite class to teach is, of course, machining, where he can share both his skills and his passion with students who are eager to learn.
Looking ahead, Mr. Willis hopes to one day travel to Europe and experience new places and cultures. For now, though, he’s looking forward to spending his upcoming vacation days traveling for baseball with his son and enjoying the off-season of wrestling. When it comes to a dream vacation, he keeps it simple: relaxing and spending quality time with the people he cares about most. In fact, his idea of a perfect date is just that: quality time together.
Mr. Willis’s favorite color is red. However, one thing he doesn’t like is self-doubt. He believes it holds people back from reaching their full potential.
If there’s one piece of advice Mr. Willis wants to share, it’s this: “It’s never failure if you tried your best.” This mindset is something he encourages in his students every day, reminding them that effort and perseverance matter more than perfection.
Through his teaching, his dedication to family, and his passion for helping others grow, Mr. Willis is building more than just skills: he’s shaping futures.
