Amy Heslop was born in October in the city of Wattsburg, PA, and she attended Edinboro University after high school. She has two younger sisters and she is the oldest of the siblings.
In high school she always wanted to make a difference, and she believed that being a teacher was too obvious. When she went into college she was undecided as to what she was going in for, but all of her classes were in relation to teaching. And now she is a teacher and she is very happy that she is teaching!
All of her interests have been intertwined into her job as a teacher; she does theater dancing at the end of the year, and she gets to do drawing on activity day, which before hand she taught drawing club. But what means the most to her as a teacher is the relationships she gets to build with the students. She loves the fun lessons she makes and so do her students and she loves working here at Corry.
Heslop would love to one day go visit Hawaii because her parents and sister went there before and she likes that the original “Jurassic Park” was filmed in Hawaii. She would also love to see the beautiful scenery Hawaii has to offer! This summer she plans on going to Jellystone Park, Pittsburgh and most likely the Pittsburgh Zoo, and at some point she plans on going to Waldemeer.
As a student in high school her favorite subject was English and Algebra class; she also participated in volleyball and track in high school. As a track athlete she did pole-vaulting and the high jump.
Heslop’s favorite movie is “Twister” and last year she got to meet the star of “Twister,” Helen Hunt who is also one of her favorite actresses, at the Pittsburgh Comic-Con! Her favorite song is “That’s Who I Praise” by Brandon Lake. She also likes the music created by Idina Menzel because she has been her favorite vocal singer for 20 years. Her favorite songs by her are “Defying Gravity” and “Into the Unknown” which are featured in the films “Wicked” and “Frozen.”
She also has three children, so some songs that are often played at home are “I’m a Gummy Bear” and “Crazy Frog,” along with songs featured in “Wish,” “Encanto,” and “Frozen”.
Her favorite quotation is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13). And her advice for the readers is “Let God lead your life, and you will never regret it. Life is full of ups and downs, but God will lead you through it.”
