Shay Linden is a junior here at Corry High School, born May 31, 2008. She grew up in Pittsburgh and was homeschooled before moving to Corry. She is still homeschooled up until lunch here at Corry, where she then goes to cosmetology. She said she got into cosmo to expand her learning and to get her license just in case.
Some of her hobbies consist of drawing, dancing, singing, and hanging with friends. Shay has four siblings: Kalista, who is 21, Carter who is 18, Tate who is 14, and Bree, who is 7. Shay also runs track, participating in the 200, 400, 800, 4×4, and 4×8. She also runs cross country. Shay said that she wants to do something in psychology or graphic design when she grows up.
Shay answered various questions about her favorite things. She said that her favorite movie is “The Dark Knight”, her favorite song is “Love You to Death” by Josiah Queen, her favorite color is purple, and her favorite emotion is peace. Her favorite classes are speech and debate because she can get out of her comfort zone often and apologetics so she can dive deeper into her faith.
Shay’s favorite food is raspberries. Shay said that her idea of a perfect vacation would be to go somewhere warm with both mountains and a beach and go on a cruise, sky dive, scuba dive, and do a ropes course.
She also said a place that she would like to travel to would be Puerto Rico for its weather or Ireland to see real Irish dancing. She is also planning on going to Washington D.C. for her dance nationals on the Fourth of July.
Her idea of a perfect date would be to go to an amusement park and ride lots of roller coasters. Shay said that the animal she would match her personality to would be a cat because they are adventurous and they sleep a lot, and even though she said she doesn’t sleep a lot she did say she wishes she could.
Shay said that her favorite quote is Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” I love that quote.
She also said that her biggest pet peeve is either when people chew with their mouths open or when they interrupt you a bunch.
Shay’s last piece of advice for her readers is this: “Do everything with purpose and try your best even when your best isn’t as good as you would like or hope it to be.”
So, thank you Shay for allowing me to interview you and good luck at nationals!
