If anyone knows me personally, they would know that I am a huge reader, specifically fantasy (or romantasy). However, recently I’ve been getting into more books that are strictly in the romance genre.
A couple weeks ago, I finished Lynn Painter’s novel ‘”Better Than the Movies,” a rom-com about 18-year-old Liz Buxbaum and her arch-nemesis next-door neighbor, Wes Bennett.
When I tell you that I absolutely loved this book, it is not an understatement. I read the book within a week and could hardly put it down. The book is filled with famous rom-com and chick-flick references, such as “When Harry met Sally,” “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” and “Ten Things I Hate About You.”
The book was beautifully written, and I often found myself smiling at the interactions between the different characters. This book is considered to be a YA, however, I would suggest that it should be for ages 14 and up.
I would give this book a 5/5 stars, and can’t wait to read more of Painter’s works!
