As the end of November comes upon us, the start of hunting season is in session. November 30 is the first day of rifle season throughout Pennsylvania. Many people old and young will be dressed in orange hoping to get their kill of the season.
The first day of hunting season in Pennsylvania is always the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. Hunting is fun and all, but you also have to remember to be safe. Safety First! Hunting season runs through November 30-December 14. You are not allowed to hunt on Sundays. This year the Pennsylvania Game Commission is allowing one Sunday you can hunt, which is Sunday December 1st.
As you hunt, be sure to follow the rules and regulations. They are put in place to keep everyone safe and have an enjoyable time. Hunters are not allowed to hunt at night. Everyone has to wait until morning sunrise and can hunt until dusk. When you are hunting you also have to wear a certain amount of orange, so other hunters can see you. It is a safety precaution, and if you are not wearing orange you can be severely injured.
In Corry, there is a Buck & Doe Pool on Facebook. If you are a kid within the Corry Area School District boundaries, you can enter into the pool and win great prizes. All you have to do it is submit a picture of your buck/doe harvested in 2024 to the Facebook group with your name, age, and harvest date to enter. If you do so, you will automatically be put into the wheel. The drawing takes place on December 15. The day after the last day to hunt in rifle season. It is a fun way to win prizes and show off your kill for the season. Good luck to all the hunters out there, and remember to stay safe.
Hunting can be very relaxing and calming, and it’s also very fun to go out with family because it’s bonding time with them.
