This year at Corry High School there is a new cell phone policy. This cell phone policy means that all students phones are to be stored in a calculator caddy or kept in students lockers. If any student’s phones are out during class, the teachers are required to tell students to put them in the caddy.
The school started this policy because there were too many students distracted by their cellphones in class. Teachers believe that students will be more engaged in class with no phones in sight. The majority of students believe that this policy doesn’t help and that students should be allowed to have their cellphones in class.
This adjustment has been especially hard for students in tenth through twelfth grade. However, it is not much of an adjustment for the freshman because they just came from middle school where they couldn’t have phones at all. This adjustment has been better and more helpful to the teachers. In upcoming years we will see if this phone policy continues or comes to an end.
