Students who are a part of all Senora Smith’s and Senorita Sisson’s Spanish classes are planning an extravagant fiesta filled with fun activities for Wednesday, March 27. Each individual country that celebrates a Hispanic lifestyle will be represented.
The students have been learning more all year about the traditions of Hispanic culture with projects. They made passports that they would use to “travel” to each country gathering information for their presentations. It’s been building up to one big fiesta. Posters, piñatas, dancing, and a live Latin jazz band will be entertaining students at the fiesta.
One of the members of the Latin jazz band has been coming into a couple of their classes throughout the year, giving the students a chance to listen to a little bit of Hispanic culture by playing his guitar. Along with listening to some cultural music, they have been practicing traditional dances you’d typically see in South America.
Not just anyone can attend this exclusive event. Students who are a part of Spanish classes currently are invited, and incoming seventh and eighth grade students who scheduled Spanish classes next year are welcomed to come. This is in hopes of bringing Spanish back to eighth grade scheduling. It will take place in the West gym; its an all-day celebration from first to last period.
Even though not everyone can attend, the whole school will get a taste of the experience through a Spanish-themed lunch choice the day of the fiesta.
