Carl Poppa was born on November 4, 2014, under my bed after coming home from a trip at Disney World. We had already owned Biscuit, a cairn terrier, and Speck, a jack russell. Together they created Carl, leaving us with a miniature dog family. Carl is larger than both his parents combined, also being the only baby to be born from the litter. His hair feels like corn silk, and his big eyes look like they have been circled with eyeliner.
Carl Poppa’s name was inspired by the Bad Lip Reading “Carl Poppa,” a “Walking Dead” parody song. This was a decision made by Drake Bowen, since Carl is his best buddy. A unique thing about Carl is he has a lucky nipple on his belly, it appeared mysteriously out of nowhere. There is no one that Carl loves more than his father Speck. Speck hates Carl a lot, and does not want to be touched by him.
Food that Carl loves to eat is bread and chicken. He would sit through a hurricane if it meant he got a small piece of bread out of it. You could call him a picky eater, he digs through the food bowl and picks out all the chicken pieces without kibble. He will expect more when there’s no more chicken choice pieces left.
In Carl’s perfect world he would dig holes, eat bread, and try to catch flies, “sky raisins,” with his mouth in the air. His idea of luxury is to be brushed, chased while he has a toy, and have his belly scratched. Carl will sit anywhere you don’t want him to, like on other dogs, or your head when you’re laying down, between your legs, and on the table. He will always be our Carl baby dog, though.
