Corry woman turns herself in after murdering husband

On Friday, January 19, a woman named Kellie Hellmann, 58,  turned herself in after stabbing her husband. She is currently being held at Erie County Prison.

According to the police, Hellmann stabbed her husband, Paul Hellmann II, around midnight. She supposedly stabbed Hellmann II  in the chest while he was sleeping in a recliner. She claims that he was still alive when she left the house, and that he locked her out. Hellmann stated that she walked around outside before turning herself into the police.

Hellmann, covered in blood, walked into the police station and claimed that she had stabbed her husband once in the chest. Three officers did a welfare check on the residence, which is 312 Essex St., Corry. Upon arriving at the house, Hellmann II was seen laying on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy report said that Kellie Hellmann’s story was correct as Hellmann II did die from a single stab wound in the chest.

Hellmann was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal homicide. She was admitted to Erie County Prison with no chance of bail.

Hellmann has a history of violence, as she spent 17 days in prison at the end of 2023 due to assault charges and terroristic threats.

Kellie Hellmann preliminary hearing is scheduled to be on January 29.
