Erie News Now anchor dies at 42

Erie News Now’s Emily Matson sadly died at the age of 42. The passing was due to suicide on December 11, 2023.

Matson was struck by a train around 12 a.m. The train incident was in Fairview, PA, near her home.

She left behind her husband, Ryan, and step-daughter Emily. No one knows for sure why she committed this tragic act.

Matson was with the Erie News Now team for 20 years. Her close friend/co-anchor John Stalin was reporting the day she died and appeared devastated on air.
