The NFL Draft is one of the most anticipated events in sports, where the future of football takes shape and teams look to build success. This survey aims to gather opinions on top prospects, team needs, and predictions of this years draft. Whether you’re a casual fan or follow every pick to their retirement, the input given by participants have helped capture the excitement and expectations surrounding the draft.
Out of 25 participants the predictions seem to be taking a heavy favorite:
- 75% – Fernando Mendoza, QB
- 8.3% – Carson Beck, QB
- 8.3% – Spencer Fano, O-line
- 8.4% – Rueben Bain Jr., Defensive end
Although Fernando Mendoza has the resume to justify being the first overall pick, winning the national championship with Indiana, a known low ranking team, and winning the Heisman with 95.16% of the first place votes, the situation with the Raiders (First Overall Pick) is very confusing.
The Raiders just signed a very successful veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a 5-year, $172 million contract. If the Raiders were truly going to choose Fernando Mendoza (a quarterback) in the first round, then they would not have spent that amount of money for the next five years at that exact position on someone else.
Most people, even casual fans, know that before you can develop a quarterback you need a safe offensive line to protect him. There is a large chance that the Raiders risk it with Cousins and draft an offensive linemen in the first round to protect Cousins and invest into the future and draft a franchise quarterback in another year.
Of course, this is all speculation until the night of the draft.
