The Cleveland Browns have been active in NFL free agency as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
One of their biggest priorities has been improving the offensive line. The team signed Elgton Jenkins who is a versatile lineman who can play both guard and center. But will most likely play center for the Browns. They also signed Zion Johnson, a strong young guard. While also re-signing guard Tevin Jenkins who played every game last season and started in four games. These moves should help protect whatever quarterback they decide to go with next season and improve the Browns running game well.
The Browns also focused on improving their defense during free agency. While they did lose standout linebacker Devin Bush to the Bears. They added linebacker Quincy Williams, a fast and physical linebacker who previously played for the New York Jets. His addition should give the Browns a boost in the middle of their defense. Cleveland also signed tight end Jack Stoll to help with blocking and depth on offense. These signings show that the Browns are trying to build a balanced team that can compete in a tough division.
Even with these additions, the Browns could still look to make more moves. They may try to add another wide receiver to give whatever quarterback they choose more passing options alongside Jerry Jeudy. The team could also add more defensive depth, especially in the secondary, to help compete with strong offenses in the AFC North.
If the Browns continue making smart signings and improve key positions, they could become a stronger playoff contender next season or at least show good improvement going in the right next step as a playoff team.
