Starting the postseason off right, the Corry Boys Basketball team beat Mercer 66-61. The game was held at Meadville High School on Thursday, February 19.
The team had a strong start scoring 22 points in the first quarter while holding Mercer to only 12. The teams early lead set the tone for the tough game to come.
Mercer battled back in the beginning of the second quarter and had a lead by 5 at half. Corry came back strong after half and led by 10 after the third quarter. The fourth quarter got close, but Corry ended the game with a much-deserved win getting to move on in the playoffs.
The leading scorers for the night were three of Corrys seniors Landon Deane (19), Kamdyn Moon (16), and Keaton Firsina (14). Kamdyn Moon also took three big charges in the game, helping the team overall.
The team now moves on to the district ten championship against Eisenhower on Tuesday, February 24, at Edinboro University. Best of luck to the team as they head into the district 10 championship!
