During this season of the NFL there were two quarterbacks who played really good this year, which are Matthew Stafford for the Rams and Drake Maye for the Patriots. Because of both of their seasons, this year there are questions on who should win MVP this year. But it is pretty clearly Matthew Stafford this year.
The main thing favoring Matthew Stafford as MVP is his touchdown passes as he got an astonishing 46 touchdown passes, while Drake Maye only had 31 touchdowns. Also, both of them only had eight interceptions this year, which makes Matthew Stafford’s touchdown pass to interception ratio higher than Drake Maye’s by default. Matthew Stafford also had 313 more yards then Drake Maye this season.
Sure, Drake Maye had the higher completion percentage and passer rating, but have you looked at the Patriots schedule? They only beat a team with above a 50% win rate once, which was the Bills, so Drake Maye should 100% have a higher passer rating and completion percentage as he is playing really bad teams. Compare it to Matthew Stafford’s schedule, where he alone has to face two of the most difficult teams to beat this year being the Seahawks and the 49ers.
Therefore, those are two main reasons why Matthew Stafford should be MVP over Drake Maye. And even look at Drake Maye’s playoff schedule, and his stats in the playoffs. Drake Maye only got 86 yards against the Broncos, and won because of the Bo Nix, injury. Seattle should wipe the floor against the Patriots at the Super Bowl because Drake Maye is extremely overrated and should not have the MVP award at all compared to Matthew Stafford.
