10. Daniel Jones – Daniel Jones has shown great improvement since leaving the Giants and has helped the Colts to sit near the top of the AFC to help lead his team to an 8-2 record. He is currently third in passing yards and has 15 touchdowns but the 7 interceptions is why he is lower on the list.
9. Jared Goff – The Lions are currently third in a stacked NFC North division at 6-4. And Jared Goff has been a big part of why they have a winning record and has thrown 21 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. But coming off of a game where he was 14/37 on passes and struggled against the Eagles is why he is lower on the list.
8. Patrick Mahomes – The Chiefs are currently out of the playoff picture if the season were to end today. But Mahomes has still played pretty well throwing 18 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. But he has not been able to close out games very well so far so that’s why I have him lower than usual.
7. Dak Prescott – The Cowboys are sitting at 4-5-1 and not too far out of the playoff picture. Dak has played I think some of his best football this year and some of these losses have not been his fault as he’s number one in QBR and has 21 touchdowns. But still taking into account his 6 interceptions and their 5 losses is why I had trouble putting him above some of these other guys on the list.
6. Lamar Jackson – Jackson missed most of the start of this season and that is a big reason why the Ravens started out 2-5 but since coming back he has won three straight and helping the Ravens to make a big push. Lamar has also thrown 15 touchdowns in just 7 games and looked pretty good. But Lamar did struggle last week and just barely beating the 2-8 Browns with throwing 2 interceptions and if this happens against better teams then I don’t think him and the Ravens would be as lucky. So that’s why I have Lamar just barely in the bottom five.
5. Baker Mayfield – Mayfield and the Buccaneers are currently first in the NFC South and are looking pretty good. Mayfield has thrown 17 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions and has looked pretty impressive. But they are 6-4 which is good but not great and there are some guys on the list who I think have been slightly better.
4. Jalen Hurts – Hurts looked a little rough to start out the season as he wasn’t throwing for many yards or touchdowns. But after a few weeks Hurts has improved a lot and has 16 touchdowns and only 1 interception which is why he is in the top 4. His team is also 8-2 and first place in the NFC looking to repeat from winning the Super Bowl.
3. Josh Allen – Josh Allen once again is a top MVP candidate as he has 28 total touchdowns with 18 passing and 10 on the ground which is insane for a quarterback.Despite the Bills being 7-3 they are second in their division. Josh allen has been dominant all year but has thrown 7 interceptions which is probable the only thing he needs to do better on.
2. Drake Maye – Drake Maye is a lot of the time mentioned as the MVP favorite and I think you could make a case because he has been really good and leading his team to a 9-2 record. He also has 20 touchdowns and leads the league in passing yards with a very high competition percentage as well with only 5 interceptions.
1. Mathew Stafford – At number one I have Mathew Stafford who has been outstanding this year throwing 27 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. He also has help lead his team to the number 2 seed in the NFC while dominating pretty much every week. I think it’s pretty close but in my opinion so far Stafford has been the best quarterback while doing it at an old age and he would be my MVP if the season ended today.
Honorable Mentions who were very close to making the top 10 – Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, Justin Herbert, and Bo Nix
