The Chicago Bears faced off against the Washington Commanders for a showdown between 2024’s two top picks in number one overall Caleb Williams and number two overall Jayden Daniels. The Bears coming off the bye week at 2-2 and the Commanders coming off of a comfortable win against what was an undefeated Chargers team had fans excited about this game to cap off week 6. The storyline was already built as last year these teams faced off and it ended with a Hail Mary when Tyrique Stevenson for the Bears celebrated to early and tipped it to Noah Brown who won the game for Washington.
In this game, all eyes were on Stevenson and how he could rewrite his narrative and most of all the Bears narrative for how they have changed as a team since last time they faced off. In the end the Bears came out victorious getting their revenge with a Jake Moody game winning field goal who was elevated a day prior to the game after Cairo Santos suffered an injury. Moody was more than serviceable going 4/5 from field goals and 2/2 with extra points.
For the QB’s, Daniels played flashier but Williams did what he needed to do to get his team the win. Daniels threw for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns but also had an interception in the red zone and a couple of fumbles with one of them recovered that ultimately led to the Moody game winner. Williams played a much cleaner game with 252 yards and a touchdown in both the run game and the passing game while also not giving up the ball. Daniels continues to flash his explosive talent while Williams is truly moving on from finding his style of play in the NFL and focusing on wins and losses.
Moving onto week 7, the Bears will host the Saints with a good chance to move to 4-2 as the Saints are a younger rebuilding team. For the Commanders they have a much more important game as they will fly to Dallas to face the Cowboys in a divisional game that will have a lot of implications on the NFC west standings.
