An eerie mist poured through all the little cracks and crevices of the landscape. I felt a chill crawl through my spine. It felt like I was being watched.
I whipped around, stirring dust up around me. At first all I saw was the horizon. Then I saw it, about 10 yards away: a massive beast lingering at 10 feet tall.
It had double-hooked hands, a locked jaw, legs more muscular than a lion’s. I saw it lunge at me. I turned around and sprinted in the fog.
I felt a claw slash at my shoulder and the beast’s breath on my neck. I sprung into an abandoned train car as it was about to tear its jaws through my flesh. I heard a loud screech as the monster dug its claws into the car to stop. I felt it shake. I suddenly was sent flying backwards, I grabbed onto the door at the bottom of the train. I saw the head of the monster staring up at me with a grin filled with serrated teeth.
I felt a jerk as the monster swung the car around trying to dislodge me from my position. I jumped out and ran just as my grip was failing. But my attempt was fruitless. I felt a blade slash my ankle and I fell to the ground. I crawled as fast as I could, but I felt the talon slam into my spine.
The last thing I see before death is the behemoth’s jaws tearing my flesh…
