Olivia sat in the back row of Mrs. Stone’s classroom, tapping her pencil on her notebook. It was just another boring Friday afternoon, and the bell for the end of the day felt years away.
Then, as she reached to grab her notebook from the desk, she noticed something strange: a tiny folded note, wedged between the wood and the seat. She picked it up cautiously, glancing around to see if anyone noticed. There was no one else around.
She unfolded it, she could feel her breath as she read:
“You’ve found it. Don’t tell anyone. Trust no one. Go to the janitor’s closet after school. – A Friend.”
Her heart raced. Who had left this? And why?
The bell rang, and students poured out of the classroom. Olivia lingered, her mind racing. She couldn’t just ignore it. She headed for the janitor’s closet.
When she arrived, the door creaked open on its own. Inside, everything seemed normal: mops, cleaning supplies, and a faint smell of bleach. But at the back of the closet was another note, this time tucked inside an old bucket.
“The secret is in the walls. Find the door.”
Olivia’s hands shook as she scanned the room. Then, she spotted it, a small, hidden door built into the far wall. It was almost impossible to see, blending with the cracked paint. She opened it and stepped inside.
The space behind it was dark, and the air felt heavy. As she looked around, she saw a dusty old book lying on a pedestal, glowing faintly.
Before she could reach for it, a voice echoed through the room.
“You’re the one. You’re the only one who can unlock it.”
Olivia froze.
She didn’t know what she was about to uncover, but she knew one thing: this was no ordinary school.
