My day started off like how it usually does. I woke up and did the same thing I do every morning to prepare myself for a day of school. I said good morning to my parents, ate my breakfast, and then was out the door to the bus.
Getting on the school bus was how it usually was. Kids screaming all over the place, and the bus driver mad with how the bus ride went. Like normal. It was a dreary day. High chance of thunderstorms and rain, with high temperatures and humidity.
The bus arrived at school at 7:45. Classes start at 8, so we have 15 minutes to get our stuff and get to our first period class. The hallways were oddly quiet, but I assumed everyone was just tired because it was early in the morning. Normally there is some more chaos going on, but not this morning. I did question it in my head but I went with it anyways. I like to be by myself in the morning, also, so I hadn’t really talked to anyone either.
I get to my first period class and it is dead silent. Even the teacher wasn’t talking. It was almost like they were all trying to talk but their voices weren’t there. So I said something to see if anyone was going to respond back to me. When I said something I heard myself, but it was like no one else heard me. They saw me, but didn’t hear me. We were all so confused. How were we going to get through the school day if we can only hear our own voices?
To be continued…
