The Chicago Bears had the 10th pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Bears were expected to take a linemen struggling with sacks this last season. The pick that we were expected to take was a linemen either Will Campbell or Armand Membou who got took at pick seven.
The Bears ended up taking Colston Loveland a tight end from Michigan University. Loveland started 24 out of his 39 games with Michigan over three seasons, totaling at 117 receptions. Colston was a good pick, because he offers a dynamic skill set to match with the Bears great wide receiving core.
Loveland in the pass and run game is very versatile, being able to create space and block for his runners. Some fans were surprised with this pick particularly due to the other tight end available, Tyler Warren. The Bears believed Loveland fit their offense better than Warren. Another element about this pick was Loveland is a good complement to the Bears existing tight end Cole Kmet in a way that allows the Bears to run more tight end formations.
