I decided to go out and ask a few of the athletes about their thoughts on their performance Tuesday.
Connor Sterling said, “I am happy with what I did for my first high school track meet… I was disappointed in my long jump because I cramped on my first jump and had to scratch the other two.”
Then, Nolan Carey said, “I threw far… pretty far.”
Blake talked about his performance, saying “I was very happy with it and I am very excited for the rest of the season. Especially the 4 by 4.”
Landon Hasbrouck was the last of the boys I talked to, and he said “We were strong. There was nice weather but it was cold. We all tried our best and for our first meet we did okay.”
Marleigh Martin was the first to speak of the girls. She said, “I did okay, I guess. I could’ve done better. I could’ve lived up to my standards.”
“I thought I was pretty good,” Madi Leofsky, who was unfortunately scratched from her evens, said. “I scratched because I was in 5 events and you can only do 4… I was very mad.”
Shay Linden was next, and she said, “I’m really grateful for my teammates willing to step up and run the 4 by 400 meter relay. It’s definitely a challenging event, but they make the race fun.”
Brynley Watrous was the last person to respond, and she said, “It was a good first meet. It’s a good opportunity for people to try new things and figure out what they like to do.”
