As a senior, you may take on many roles each and every day, but here are some tips that helped me throughout my senior and high school life in general.
Learn to communicate with your peers: When coming into school, talking is usually the main thing every student and teacher does, and if you’re not engaging in the conversation, how likely are you to get out there to make your senior year more easy and enjoyable?
Take as many notes as possible: When in class and you are sitting there dozing off, remember that what teachers say is something small, it could be a question on an upcoming test, so please write stuff down for your sake.
Don’t be late: I know it can be hard waking up early and making it to class, but this is why we have study halls and understanding teachers to talk to about your living situation. Also being on time is letting everyone know that you’re serious about your education.
Ask questions: As a senior, it does get easier, but starting early, you really should always ask questions if you have them, so that you are not clueless when an assignment is assigned. When becoming a senior, it gets easier to ask questions because by then you might have made more stronger friends and teacher connections.
Balance your schedule: Working as a senior gives you the opportunity to go on CO-OP and head to work early to get a head start on your career, which is always a nice way to make money, but it will get taken away from you if you do not fulfill your studies and classwork on time. So balancing your schedule is important for your future.
Have fun, of course: This is a big one for me personally because senior year goes by really fast, and now you tend to think of all the extra activities you have done like Art Club, Key Club, Sports, Drama, etc., and without these I feel as though my high school years would have been a bore. So I am telling new seniors to join in on the fun and make your senior year a blast.
Study: I chose this to be the last reminder for upcoming seniors as the biggest advice; make sure to study up and have the right study guides on hand. Not studying could lead to bad results and then bad consequences like no more sports, no field trips, detention, and most importantly, not graduating.
This list may come as a surprise, but I believe if you follow these tips, then senior year will be a breeze for the upcoming class.
