Corry High’s SkillsUSA team earned an impressive second place out of 10 teams at the Healthcare Knowledge Bowl held at Hershey Lodge.
The team—comprised of Jonas Anthony, Delaney Nickerson, Lindsey Hasbrouck, and Cooper Hodak—competed from April 2-4. The competition consisted of two main components: a written test worth 150 points and an oral trivia challenge worth 500 points.
Reflecting on the experience, Delaney Nickerson shared, “This experience has been a tremendous opportunity for me and my team. We’ve learned and grown so much, not only from our teachers but also from the people we met along the way. While finishing in second place was bittersweet, we had an incredible time at both districts and states, and the memories we made will last a lifetime.”
The team left for Hershey Lodge at 6 a.m. on April 2nd, and by 2 p.m. that day, they completed the written test portion of the competition. The test featured 50 multiple-choice questions, each worth three points, covering a wide range of healthcare topics. The team had 20 minutes to complete it as a group.
The following day, the team tackled the trivia portion at 1 p.m. The challenge lasted more than two hours, with the judge presenting questions to all 10 teams. Each team had 30 seconds to write their answers on a whiteboard, ensuring correct spelling.
On the third day, the team attended the awards ceremony, where the results were announced. They proudly claimed second place in the state, finishing just 20 points shy of first.
