April 1 is fool’s day, and many people play pranks on friends or family for the fun of it. When was Fool’s Day created? This answer is unknown, but it is believed to have been formed around the 16th century. During the 16th century people normally celebrated the new year on March 25, but times changed and they switched it to January 1. After this, people did pranks associated with the old New Year’s celebrations.
With the new year’s date changed in the 16th century, people who still celebrated it on March 25 were seen as foolish/out of touch. This directly led to pranks and jokes towards those people. Though we don’t exactly know how April Fool’s Day came to be, this is the most common story. The term “April fool” emerged from tricking people on the first day of April. “April fools” was the phrase used to mock those who fell for the pranks and trickery.
