March Madness has arrived and there has been a some great matchups so far in the first and second round. There has been buzzer beaters, close games, and even game winners. So here are some of the best games of the tournament.
10. (2) Michigan State Vs (10) New Mexico – This game was very one sided at the start going Nelly Junior Joseph was putting in work down low against Michigan St bigs. He had 12 points going into half, after half time the energy shifted over to Michigan St side after Jaden Akins hit 2 back to back 3s. Akins had 16 in their comeback win over New Mexico.
9. (7) Saint Mary’s Vs (10) Vanderbilt – We put this game because it was close the whole game and it came down to the last shot. Justin Edwards carried Vanderbilt having 20 out of their 56 points. The only reason Vanderbilt lost this game was that they got killed on the boards Vanderbilt only pulled down 28 boards while St Marys pulled down almost 50 boards if they rebounded better Vanderbilt would have easily won.
8. (2) Alabama Vs (15) Robert Morris – This game was a lot closer than most people expected nobody expects a 15 seed to come in and beat a 2 seed especially one of Alabamas caliber and while Robert Morris didn’t win they stuck up a really good fight they close all the way to about the 6 min mark in the second half that was untill Mark Sears stepped up and started cooking for Alabama he had 9 points in the second half leading Alabama to the close win. Robert Morris leading scorer was Amarion Dickerson who had 25 points in their loss.
7. (5) Michigan Vs (12) UC San Diego – This was a really good game to watch a lot of people picked this as their upset in their brackets and I can see how UC San Diego was the best team in all of college basketball of turning the other team over and Michigan had been riddled with a turnover problem the whole season. The game was what everyone expected UC San Diego forced a decent amount of turnovers, but their offense seemed very slow and was hard to get started and it came down to the last shot where Tyler McGhie Took came off a screen and shot and fade away 3 it went off the rim giving Michigan the win.
6. (5) Oregon Vs Arizona(4) – I liked this game because of the fight Oregon put up at the end the game started off with Oregon holding a commanding 15 point lead. Jackson Shelstad was a problem for Arizona in the 1st half he had 15 points, but after the big run Oregon just put on Arizona had a big run of their own lead by Caleb Love. Love lead his team back down from 15 points and had 29 to end the night advancing to the next round.
5. (8) Mississippi St Vs (9) Baylor – This game had no major lead changes the game was extremely close the whole time. Being a eight versus a nine seed these seeded games are always good, so going into this game I was expecting it to be great. Josh Hubbard had an amazing game scoring from all levels of the floor and playing great defense, but other than him nobody was really doing anything for Mississippi State. While Baylor had 5 people in double digits Mississippi’s offense looked very slow and Baylor took advantage of that giving them the win.
4. (5) Clemson Vs (12) McNeese – Who doesn’t love a good upset I mean this game was very unexpected Clemson was a good team this season, so to see them get upset first round was very surprising. The upset wasn’t the only thing that made this game good it was a very tight game the whole time. Brandon Murray came off the bench and dropped twenty one points Jaeden Zackery was shooting the lights out going 50% shooting eight threes.
3. (10)Arkansas Vs (2) St Johns – This was the best upset so far of the tournament, if Arkansas wins again it will be a better upset, because it would be a ten seed going into the elite eight. For Arkansas it was mostly spread around the whole team points wise their leading scorer having sixteen. Zuby Eijofor was carrying St John’s with 23 points and 12 rebounds. With the second leading scorer only having thirteen.
2.(8) UConn vs (1) Florida – I thought this game was great, because it would of been the biggest upset of the tournament, Florida being a lot of peoples winners of their brackets. Liam McNealy was the leading scorer for the huskies getting to the line and shooting eight for eight from free throw. Walter Clayton Jr. shot really well from the three having twenty three points and going five for eight from three.
1.(12) Colorado State Vs (4) Maryland – This game is number one on the list, because it was the only buzzer beater of the tournament so far. Derik Queen had the buzzer beater for Maryland also being there leading scorer with seventeen points solidifying himself as a top 10 draft pick in this years up incoming draft.
