10. Malik Beasley – Beasley has been an amazing off-season acquisition that has been a key piece in their huge jump of improvement. averaging 16.6 pts on good shooting, Beasley is underrated as many people don’t appreciate how much of an impact his scoring and veteran presence has brought to the team.
9. Jalen Johnson – Johnson is coming off of a most improved player award and is only getting better. Johnson is averaging 19 pts 10 reb 5 ast this season. At only 6’8, he is one of the best rebounding forwards in the league. He also is shooting 50% from the field this season, and has started developing a three point shot. He is underrated mostly because he was ruled out for the year a month ago. Also Johnson is an underappreciated rebounder and defender.
8.Norman Powell – Powell is 31 years old, but is having the best season of his career. He is averaging 24 pts this season off of almost 50% from the field. This field goal percentage is mind blowing because most of Powells shots come from 15 feet out or further. he is also shooting 42.4% from behind the arc. Powell is underrated because this Clippers team wouldn’t be nearly as good without him, and his 1.2 steals per game also make him a playable defender against any matchup.
7. Trey Murphy III – It is no doubt that the Pelicans have been beyond disappointing, but one thing they can’t have taken away from them is the season Trey Murphy III is having. He is averaging 22 points off of good shooting splits for a young forward. Murphy has kept the Pelicans in games countless times, and this is why I think he is underrated.
6. Jayson Tatum – The Boston Celtics are having another great year led by superstar Jayson Tatum. Tatum is considered a top ten player by most fans, but I feel that he’s underrated for two reasons. Tatum is not just a great scorer. His passing has gotten better and better over the years, and he is also averaging a career best 8.8 rebounds. Tatum’s defense has also improved, and I think part of the reason is that he is surrounded by great defenders, which has translated to his game. Tatum doesn’t get enough credit for being the superstar of this team that I think he deserves.
5. Naz Reid – Reid is one of the biggest fan favorites not just in Minnesota, but in the NBA. One reason he is underrated though is that he can actually play very well, and many fans don’t know that. Reid is averaging 15 pts and 6 reb off of good shooting splits. He is finally getting the minutes he deserves, and having his best year which will earn him a great contract this free agency whether it is resigning, or going to another team where he will make the most of his opportunity.
4. Domantas Sabonis – The Kings were a weird team this deadline shipping out De’Aaron Fox, but bringing in Zach Lavine. Through all of this, one player that still impresses me is Domantas Sabonis. He is averaging a career high 14.1 reb along with 19.5 pts and 6.2 ast. Sabonis does not get the credit he deserves because he has only been on irrelevant teams other than a couple years with the Thunder and Pacers, and one year with the kings. Sabonis has been a top center in the league since 2019 and many fans do not give him the credit he’s due.
3.Ty Jerome – Just when we thought Jerome would be done, he found the right fit in Cleveland. Playing in a fast paced offense of Kenny Atkinson, Jerome is averaging 12 points in only around 19 minutes per game. He is Cleveland’s main scorer off the bench, and you have to give him credit for fueling this Cavs team to the best record in the NBA late in the season.
2.Toumani Camara – Camara and the Trail Blazers have been one of the most exciting teams in the league since mid January. There defense is led by 2nd year 2nd round pick Toumani Camara. Camara leads the league in charges and offensive fouls drawn. He is averaging almost 11 pts and 6 reb off of 37.6% from three point range. Camara has helped completely turn Portland around, and he should receive credit for this.
1.Dyson Daniels – After getting traded from a couple bad years in New Orleans, Daniels is playing amazing for Atlanta. He is averaging 3 stl and 0.8 blk per game, along with 14 pts off of 48% from the field and 34.1% from around the arc. Daniels looks like he could end up winning defensive player of the year, but his quiet attitude leaves him under the radar, and the most underrated player in the league.
