On Tuesday, March 11, Corry Honors Choir hosted their annual Broadway Night event. This night was hosted by the honors choir teacher Mrs. Smrcka.
Every day during school the choir has practiced daily so they could all be spot on. The performance order started with a group act and then soon followed duets or solos and back to a group like a pattern almost. That lasted about an hour and a half with a table full of cakes, cookies, and more. The so-called Broadway Dinner is something that started around seven and happened until quarter to nine. The Broadway dinner has been shown for multiple years now and more to come in the future as well.
The songs were constructed in a way where the class would sing a group song and then break off into different acts such as duets or solos. The opening performance started with the song called “Opening Up” followed by “Steam Heat” and the night ended with “Seasons of Love.” These reporters participated in the show as well, singing a duet covering the symbolism of conjoining twins that was a good fit. The song was called “ I Will Never Leave You” presented by Sideshow.
The overall performance was a total success and the rehearsing came to good use. The students used their time wisely to put their emotion onto the stage from practicing melodies and the story behind the lyrics.
When asking some students from the choir about what their favorite part was they all answered with singing songs they have never heard of and getting close to the person they sang with. Singing in front of parents and friends will give you a warm feeling inside, so if you are interested in performing, then take the honors choir class.
