The Corry Siggs were a beloved basketball team at the local rec center in Erie PA. After the Milwaukee Bucks went bankrupt, the NBA needed a quick team to take over. They didn’t have time to search for someone to make a team so they held tryouts in New York. The Siggs were one of the teams invited so starting point guard Arts Cass decided to rent a cheap team bus and took a road trip down.
The facility was nothing any of the Siggs had seen before. The 7 foot center Big Red was stunned. They walked in and small forward Park Nichs told them to act natural. There were not many teams there and Corry felt like they had a real shot to make the league. They had a tournament between 16 teams to decide who would be the lucky team. In the end the Siggs placed 2nd. They lost to Dank Memes, Inc., but the thing was Dank Memes, Inc. didn’t have good jerseys. Their team wasn’t as set up as The Siggs, so they were cut off. The Siggs did the unthinkable. They won, and they would play their first game the next day, on their own home court.
Shooting guard Jacks Lathe was ready. He gave the opening game speech in the locker room, as well as head coach Dan Maestro. The game started and power forward Cobe Myes started it off with an air ball. They regrouped though and went on a 15-0 run. Arts Cass was feeling it. He pulled it from deep behind the three point line and swished it.
They were up by 20 against the Lakers. The game went the same path in the 2nd half and Arts Cass finished with 38 points and Big Red finished with 25 rebounds.
They were feeling it after the game and partying, but they just got news that they were adding two more teams, the SuperSonics, and Dank Memes, Inc. They knew there would be challenges that they would face, but together as a team they felt unstoppable.
